About Lizzy
Hi! Allow me to introduce myself. I’m Lizzy Griffith, PhD, mom of two littles who will attend DJUSD schools, public policy researcher, and Candidate for DJUSD school board trustee, area 2. I’m running to ensure representation for the youngest students in our district. Let’s connect! I want to hear what matters to you.
I am committed to ensuring transparency, accountability, and inclusivity in all our initiatives. By addressing key educational issues and advocating for meaningful reforms, I aim to provide every student with the opportunity to thrive.
Leadership
I bring to this role a strategic vision for leadership as a Trustee. I prioritize transparent, evidence-based and human-centered decisionmaking. In every consideration we need to be able to clearly communicate who is impacted, how they are impacted, what problem is being addressed, why it is being addressed, when it will be addressed, and where the greatest impact can be made with the resources available.
Early Childhood Education
I will prioritize Early Childhood Education, focusing on making sure our youngest children have access to safe, high-quality, and affordable care. I will ensure we direct resources to expanding all-day Kindergarten and Transitional Kindergarten and expand service delivery of the Early Learning Center programs, both fee-based and State Preschool.
Access and Inclusion
The community has identified equitable access and opportunity as a core component of the strategic plan for the next five years. It’s time to implement this plan. It should start with fostering a culture of human-centered, evidence-based decision making that includes a diversity of voices (students, families, community members) in the process. This is why transparency and accountability are so critical.
Transparency and Accountability
As a Trustee, I will ensure that the community is easily able to access information related to the Board’s decision-making process. The Brown Act is critical, and necessary, but it is not sufficient. We can do more to make sure community members are aware of what problems the Board is trying to solve, what solutions have been considered, and what evidence supports them.
Safety and Well-Being
All children deserve to feel safe, supported, and empowered at school. The board must consider, in a holistic and evidence-based manner, what resources are needed to promote physical and psychological safety in our schools.
